Where Wild Hearts Wander: A Mountain Elopement Tale

Some couples dream of ballrooms and chandeliers. Jaycee and Tanner? They chose wind-whipped peaks, sunlit vows, and a whole lot of adventure.

Hailing from Saskatchewan; where the land stretches flat and wide......they craved something different. Something wild. Something with elevation. So they packed their handwritten vows, photos of loved ones who couldn’t be there, and a bottle of champagne (plus some good ol’ OJ), and headed west to Canmore.

As their photographer & videographer (and mountain-chasing third wheel), I had the absolute honor of capturing every windswept moment. From teary first looks to scaling rocky peaks with the officiant in tow, this day was anything but ordinary.

One of my favorite moments? Watching Tanner and the officiant (his bff) scramble up the mountain like it was just another Tuesday. Meanwhile, Jaycee stood below, veil fluttering like a flag of triumph, waiting to say “I do” with the Rockies as witness.

The details were intimate and intentional. Photos of passed loved ones tucked into their ceremony space. A quiet toast with champagne and orange juice. Vows written by hand, spoken with hearts full and eyes misty. It was raw, real, and ridiculously beautiful.

And if you’re wondering how Jaycee felt about the final gallery? Let’s just say she was “drooling.” (Her words, not mine—but I’ll take it.)
